Lightbulb moments.

"MADE TO CRAVE: Satisfying Your Deepest Desire with God, Not Food"

After hearing about this book from two friends at church, I bought it and started reading it tonight.  Just chapter 1. I went to my computer before even finishing the chapter to email my two friends about what I was getting already! Here is what I emailed both of them:

I am only in the first chapter of Made to Crave and here's what I've got:
(besides a lot of underlining already in my book from things I need to remember)
1. - hey, this is not going to be about "punishing" myself with reading a book of the Bible every time I eat too much *smile*
2. - QUOTE -(Referring to Eve in the garden of Eden when tempted with the fruit) "She focused only on the object of her obsession."  Wow, my first smack between the eyes. I love that sentence.
3. - 1st Corinthians 19:23 is going to be printed and posted in my kitchen..... and maybe by my computer. "Everything is permissible- but not everything is beneficial."
4. - and number four - right between the eyes - QUOTE  "Do you believe there could be any benefits to listening to your cravings rather than trying to silence them?"

Here is a link to the book.  Click  HERE.

I have been dealing with a bundle of emotions lately. And believe me chocolate, it totally helps.  But I want more than that. I want my body to reflect the fact that my desire is for God not for food. I want to find more that the pleasure I get from food, I want the pleasure of a refreshing moment with the God of the universe. That is WAY better than the chocolate, believe me, He is. I just don't always let Him in during those moments. Time to change that.

I pre-ordered this book and accidentally threw it away the day after I received it. (Long story) Anyway, I can't wait to read it myself.

I know I need to read this. Ask me what my pleasure comes from. Food. Totally food. Since discovering the Chocolate Lava Cakes...well, total delight. But I know where my joy and pleasure should come from. So I will check into the book. I will. After pizza night tomorrow anyway. :)
