Dissappointed

This weekend I had one of those "kick in the gut, tell me it isn't true" moments. A friend emailed me and said I might want to check into the position of March of Dimes regarding abortion.
Last Thursday I posted THIS about my precious niece and the March for Babies coming up this Saturday...... well......
I got busy right away online. At first there seemed to be a lot of crazy accusations and lack of solid evidence. But as I read more and more.... I was sadly disappointed. The March of Dimes claims to be neutral on the abortion issue (if that is really possible, aren't you either a supporter or not) but they DO give grants to Planned Parenthood, and they support fetal tissue research (research done on aborted babies) and embryonic stem cell research, among other things. I could go on with their unethical choices.

I have come to the conclusion that I cannot continue to support them. This is the conclusion I have come to personally after reading various websites.

I will give y'all the links. You can decide for yourself if you want to support them. Knowing what I know now I have to say that there are just too many better places to contribute support and donations that also protect the lives of the unborn.

My mother in law talked to the director of the Iowa Chapter of March of Dimes and was assured that if she designated in writing her wishes to have her donations that she collected (for the March for Babies in Des Moines this weekend), as "restricted" they would honor her wishes. They would only use the donations she solicited for efforts she supported. We hope and pray that they are true to their word.

Here are just a few of the links:

Let me know if any of these don't link correctly.

So very much of what the March of Dimes does is wonderful and amazing work. But there is no excuse for the positions they have taken and contributions they have made on key pro-life/pro-choice issues and organizations.

I also stumbled on some other major non-profits that contribute to unethical groups that pro-lifers would not want to support. But look carefully at that first link from Focus on the Family's Citizen Action website. Or click HERE.

My niece is still our miracle girl that was saved by the grace of God and the recipient of such amazing medical advances made possible by the March of Dimes. And we will still thank God every day for her life every day.

So many large organizations feel the need to take a "PR" approach to stances that are highly controversial. It's sad, but that's the way our society (as a whole) wants to be. Just look at the backlash from Miss California in the Miss USA pageant when she spoke her mind.
