Only if you're bored.....

Here is a little Paulsen camping entertainment....
the air mattress pump....
watch out the spit kind of flys around....
they are each about 20 seconds long.

Did I mention yet.....

that over the weekend we also floated the Upper Iowa River?
That is where "being cold" met "being wet"
creating "cold and wet".
YUCK!
BUT!!!!
The second day was much warmer and much more fun!
Here are a few pics!

Daniel rows the canoe with me perched in the middle in a lounge chair.

My bad back CANNOT row a boat!

(sorry no pics, I don't trust and of them that close to the water with my Cash)

We rented Kayaks for the boys!

Which, it's no surprise...

they often treated them like bumper boats.
Jedd only eats when he is actually hungry.
So his McDonald's burgers (yes TWO burgers..... that is what boys do once they hit 9.5 yrs old) made it half way through our journey before he was ready to eat it!
I am very sure his hands were not clean at this point.
See the mud?

Then we hit the highlight of the day!
A beautiful spring entering the river!

Hey look! It's me!
Again, very glad you can't smell me in this photo.

Jedd is pretending to go over the edge... which in reality...

is THIS high up!
See him at the top!?

THE END!

Don't you wish you were there??

It made using the porta*potty all weekend, worth it!

BTW!

I found a $50 bill in there!!

NO JOKE!!!

But I feel compelled to put it in the plate on Sunday!

Even though it came from a porta*potty!

*smile*

Don't tell the ushers where it came from!

he-he!

This weekend was all about....

being cold

and wet

and muddy

and really wet

drying feet by the fire

drying socks on the line

eating smores with dirty hands

and getting them even stickier

getting your smore stolen while you're not looking

hard drinkin' (diet caff free dew)

really hard

did I mention getting really dirty?

... you know, all the things little boys
and their daddy's
dream of.

Oh and how could I forget...
no running water,

or electricity
and one blue
porta*potty.
At least it was the cleanest, least stinky one I have ever used.

God is watching out for me.
Really.

Fish... smelly fish. Just for you ED!

Russ caught a nice trout!

And a baby bass.

okay, so what did you expect from Paulsens?
Flowers and more flowers?
No!
Fish and more fish!

He just doesn't even care that this is a carp.
Daniel caught an even bigger carp than Jedd's but the are so ugly I refrained from taking a picture of Daniel's carp!

I would do a close up of this one....

But I might start losing readers!
ha ha!
I ate this one.
Jedd and I that is.
In about 30 seconds flat we had him GONE!
Little butter, little ketchup.
Mmmmm!

Gotta love that....

... all four of us love..... camping!
And we're Paulsens so there was lots of playin!
Enjoy!
I bet you wondered where I had gone!
Right?
Don't worry!
I am back!

Osborne Nature Center!

See the eagle?

YEAH! A waterfall! I was excited as I wanted to see the difference in shutter speeds!
Slow shutter=

Fast shutter=

Definitely need fast shutter more often=

Jedd measuring whose trout was bigger!

Proud boys!

This one jumped out of his hands just as I snapped the pic!

Can you see how he loves nature?

Got the football stuck WAY WAY WAY
up in this tree!

But, of course, that was a challenge met with glee!
After chucking a water bottle a bunch of times..... it was back to the game!

Then dinner by Dan!

I let Jedd take a bunch of pics!
He took the ones above of the food!
This one of me.
I am so glad you cannot smell me in this picture.
*smile*

LOVE my sigma 50mm lens!

We walked/hiked lots of trails!

I found plenty of things to photograph!
I only took 483 photos this time.

My favorite view is always the same though!
Watching two boys and their daddy ahead of me on the trail!

Climbing in "the backbone"! WAY FUN!

You knew if there were rocks there was jumpin', right?!?!

And big smiles!

And lots of climbing.
I highly recommend Backbone State Park
as a means of completely wearing out
high energy children.

Hey! Blogger loaded my favorite view twice!
Enjoy!

What a beautiful weekend,
in so many ways!
