Leavin' the whine in 09!

Okay so Sunday at 9:15 I remembered I was on the music schedule to sing in the morning service... a solo. It was clearly "imprinted" in my mind BEFORE our trip, but had slipped my mind since we returned from Arkansas.
9:15..... we leave for Sunday school at 9:25. At 9:20 I was burning a disc with the accompaniment track to a favorite hymn. It was one I sang about 2 yrs ago. Good thing no one will remember me singing it back then!
It became a favorite my freshman year in college. It was chosen as our" class song".
"Take My Life and Let it Be". Perfect theme for a first year in college.
Perfect theme for the start of a new year!
God is good.
The solo went fine.

Here are the sweet words to the hymn:

  1. Take my life and let it be
    Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
    Take my hands and let them move
    At the impulse of Thy love.
  2. Take my feet and let them be
    Swift and beautiful for Thee;
    Take my voice and let me sing,
    Always, only for my King.
  3. Take my lips and let them be
    Filled with messages from Thee;
    Take my silver and my gold,
    Not a mite would I withhold.
  4. Take my moments and my days,
    Let them flow in endless praise;
    Take my intellect and use
    Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.
  5. Take my will and make it Thine,
    It shall be no longer mine;
    Take my heart, it is Thine own,
    It shall be Thy royal throne.
  6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
    At Thy feet its treasure store;
    Take myself and I will be
    Ever, only, all for Thee.
I really do want that for my life in 2010. All of that. Nothing is as amazing as letting Him take control. I wish I could say that I live every day that way. I don't. But that doesn't stop me from striving.... longing..... choosing....... Him.
It is funny how the very thing that brings amazing joy and peace and serenity is the very thing I fight, at times.
Funny how He "gets that" about me.
Funny how He waits.

Side note: Today the sun is coming out. Today it is 19 degrees! The wind chill is above zero. Woot woot! Ahhhh......who knew 19 could feel sweet!

It is all about perspective. *smile*

I am trying to leave the whine in 2009.
Can I do it?
I am quite a whiner.
ESPECIALLY in the winter.

Beautiful song. That's a good goal to leave the whine in 2009.

Fine to leave the whine, as long as you don't leave the wine. I tend to to do too much of it ... whine, not wine. :-) Happy 2010

I love that hymn Beth. One of my favorites. I too have been convicted of complaining, especially in light of Haiti.

Good stuff.
